Knead Animal Massage FAQ: What is Arthritis?

Updated: Oct 6, 2019

The word arthritis is used to describe the inflammation that can occur in a joint and in the tissues surrounding a joint. Over time, this inflammation can cause our pets to feel pain and discomfort.

Animals have the tendency to mask symptoms and remain stoic even when painful. You may notice your pet doesn't have the same ease of movement she once did, or that he doesn't find his toys interesting anymore and chooses rather to sleep most of the day. Certain changes are expected as an animal gets older, but massage can help to alleviate the symptoms of arthritis by reducing pain and stiffness, easing anxiety, improving range of motion in joints, and promoting more restful sleep.

Check out our short video below to learn more about arthritis, along with the causes, symptoms, and a few options that can help keep your pets comfortable as they age.
